Derrick Hurst
Hi, my name is Derrick Hurst (he/him/his). I am currently the Director of the Integrated Crisis Team at Lawrence Memorial Hospital but spent the previous 15 years working in acute psychiatric settings for children and adolescents. Through this work I have seen first hand the effects that non-inclusive environments can have on young developing brains and the health and safety risks LGBTQIA students face as a result. In January of 2020 I was honored to represent RKF in the Transformations Charity Gala to raise awareness in our community of this need and the important work RKF is doing to create inclusive school environments. I joined the RKF board shortly after because all children deserve to have safe and supportive environments to play, learn, and grow in.
